Elizabeth Levitski instructs the following:
Experience the healing dynamics of the Ashtanga yoga system in a set sequence of postures that synchronizes breath and drishti (gaze) as a means to quiet the mind and build physical strength and endurance. This class is rooted in the primary series counted out in the traditional Sanskrit method but we will occasionally go off script and explore asanas from the second and third series in a playful yet challenging atmosphere. Be prepared to fly, float, and bend in ways you never thought possible! And you might just pick up some Sanskrit along the way!
We are pleased to offer an "open studio" time where students are able to practice at their own pace. One or more teachers will be available to offer specific instructions to help you progress in your practice and and learn proper alignment. In addition, “hands on adjustments” and verbal cues will be offered as needed. This approach allows students to practice at their own pace and ask questions as they arise. There is no need to try to keep up with a class. For those with injuries or medical issues, this class is a great way to cultivate a customized practice. All levels of students are welcome in this open studio time.
